In his rare interviews, Damar told, his parents did a lot for him to become the football sensation. “I give all that credit to my mom and dad”, Damar told once.
Despite his extremely warm relationship with his father, Damar’s childhood hasn’t always been cloudless. Mario became Damar’s father at the tender age of 18. He wasn’t completely ready for that role. Mario was struggling with extreme poverty and to earn some cash for his wife Nina and son Damar. To achieve that, he started selling drugs. The man was arrested for that and imprisoned for 10 years. Damar was a 12-year-old boy at that time. Mario returned from home after 3.5 years in jail. He was released early for good behavior.
Having come back home, Mario started a new life. In 2005 – 2010 he served as a banquet runner at the restaurant. Later he founded the office cleaning company “TeamHamlin Trucking”.

Nina Hayes Hamlin is Damar’s mother. She is closely knitted with her son. She provided Damar with the background he needed to develop his sports talent. After her son’s heart arrest on the field on January 2023 she stood by his side. Later Nina thanked the specialists from the University of Cincinnati Medical Centre, who did their best to save Damar’s life. On January 3, 2023, the player breathed 50% by himself and 50% through the ventilator.
Damar’s teammates have a great opinion of Nina Hamlin. They name her “the face of NFL mothers”. She put lots of effort to help her son Damar to become a renowned footballer. She taught him to be self-disciplined and kind-hearted.
Nina took 2 or even 3 jobs simultaneously to provide Damar with everything necessary when her husband was in jail. Although Damar’s mother Nina put lots of effort to send her son to a private school, still she couldn’t completely prevent her son from the influence of the toxic surrounding. They lived in McKees Rocks, where drug dealing and violence were something habitual. Nina did a lot to save Damar from trouble.
She met Damar’s father Mario at a high school. Their young dates ended with a teen pregnancy, and Nina put away her carefree life as a schoolgirl and became a mother at the age of 16.
Previously, she worked as a certified nurse. As of now, the woman maintains the daycare center.

Bio
Damar Romeyelle Hamlin was born in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. He is the older of 2 sons in the family of Mario Hamlin and Nina Hayes Hamlin. Damar has a younger brother Dimir.
The future NFL player studied at Central Catholic High School. He played for the school football team there. His natural talent and hard work helped him to become a local sports sensation. For his great play, he got the title of the best defensive player of the year.
He got lots of scholarship offers after graduation from school. Damir chose the University of Pittsburgh. He performed for the college American football team Pitt Panthers during his years there. He was a college student from 2016-2020 and all that time he joined sports with academic studying. Damir got a bachelor’s degree in communication there.
In 2021 the aspiring player got a chance to play in NFL. He was drafted by the strong American football team “Buffalo Bills”. He signed the deal as a rookie and during a year he worked hard and learned from more experienced teammates. During a year Damar was a reserve player.
In 2022 he replaced his teammate Micah Hyde, who had an injury and was sent for rehab, in the position of the game starter. In his interview with Maddy, Glab Mikah praised high Damar’s playing skills and told him that as a rookie he learned a lot and was ready for a new career stage. That was a big opportunity for Hamlin and it could open new doors into the big NFL world in front of him.
But on January 2, 2023, his dreams were broken. During the Monday night football match against Cincinnati Bengals, he had a sudden heart failure.
The 24-year-old player ran into a member of the opponent’s team and fell to the pitch. Then he got up, straightened his helmet, and after a few seconds fell again.
Doctors, who ran out onto the field, made cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the athlete. Damar Hamlin has been taken to the hospital in a very hard condition.

He likes to play chess. One day Damar said that he developed his instincts while playing chess. Later he used that experience to build a winning strategy while he was playing American football on the field.

As a teen, Damar witnessed the death of silly bullets of 3 of his school friends. Thus, his friend, the rapper Jimmy Wopo, was shot. His other friend and NFL dreamer Jeremiah Jones was shot numerous times and passed away in the summer of 2017.
