Daniel Hernandez Sr. (father)
His father was of Puerto Rican origin. He was very poor and resided in a criminal area of New York. The man was tragically killed when his son Daniel was just 14. His father’s death had a bad impact on the teenager. He accused society in his parent early departure. To take revenge for his father’s death, young Hernandez joined the criminal group “Bloods”. Later he broke the connection with the gangster world.
It was his father, who introduced small Daniel to music and theater art. The rapper’s dad saved money on dinners and spent it to buy a ticket to some concert or performance. Thus, Hernandez Jr was getting involved in music art.
His mother left Mexico – her home country – to struggle for a better future in the USA. As Tekashi opened up on Instagram, he didn’t understand at first his mother’s decision to live separately from their Mexican relatives. Not long ago he came to his mom’s hometown and reunited with her family.

Daniel Hernandez, who is widely known under the stage moniker “Tekashi69” and 6ix9ine, is a famous gifted rapper of Mexican origin. His parents immigrated to USA from Mexico. In his childhood and early teen years, Daniel lived in poverty. His parents took any job they could find; still they were short of money all the time.
At the age of 14, the boy faced his first personal tragedy. His father was assassinated, and his mother had to maintain the entire family alone. To help her, Hernandez left the school after the 8th grade and found the job of a waiter in the nearest pub.
To be honest, serving the tables wasn’t the only job he did. He turned into a drug dealer. Soon he forgot about poverty but got many additional problems with police. Daniel was arrested and imprisoned numerous times. He not just sold drugs; he also took them, participated in fights and even had relationships with an underage girl.
The thing, which saved the young man from long-term imprisonment, was music. He recorded his first songs in 2014 and uploaded them online. Thus, gradually he started to gain an initial fan base. At first, Daniel performed under the nickname “Wallah Dan”, and later changed it for Tekashi69.
The rapper was catapulted to stardom after the release of his hits “69” and “Pimpin”. He got platinum certification for his hit “Gummo” in 2017. In early 2018 he released the debut set of songs “Day 69”.
